Problem:
Conventional chairs encourage prolonged, passive sitting, which can contribute to poor posture, reduced muscular engagement and long-term strain on the back and body. We needed to design a seating solution that could support three distinct activities: focused work, meditation and body strengthening.
Solution:
We designed the chair around movement and postural awareness rather than a single fixed position. Its geometry supports sitting positions that engages the core and supporting muscles.
Over time, the chair encourages the body to develop healthier sitting patterns instead of relying entirely on back support—turning everyday sitting into an opportunity to build greater postural awareness, stability and long-term physical wellbeing.

The Design
Journey
The chair’s geometry began with researching the mathematical relationships between the spine, pelvis, knees and centre of gravity. These principles were translated into carefully calculated angles and proportions that could support focused work, meditation and active sitting while encouraging healthier posture across different body types.
The structure was then tested against varying pressure points, body weights and load directions to identify areas of stress and ensure the chair would remain stable during both static and active use. Each component was refined to distribute force effectively and reduce the possibility of structural failure over time.
One of the most complex challenges was translating this ergonomic geometry into wood. The joinery had to withstand repeated movement and multidirectional loads while remaining practical to manufacture and assemble. Every connection, material thickness and mechanism was therefore developed around both structural performance and production constraints.
The result is not simply an alternative chair, but a considered system in which ergonomics, engineering, material behaviour and manufacturability work together.
